Exploring the Dwyryd Estuary
Our work to put the overhead line from Garth to Cilfor underground is taking an important step forward this month.
From 24 June 2017, we’ll be carrying out geological surveys at the Dwyryd Estuary and surrounding area to gain valuable information about the geology and archaeology of the seafloor. This will inform our plans for the engineering design and depth of the tunnel under the estuary which will carry the cables that will replace the overhead line.
The surveys will take around six days and will involve members of the team accessing the estuary on a small boat towing equipment.
In early July we will be carrying out land-based surveys at key locations along the route corridor for the proposed tunnel, looking at geology and archaeology.
This work will inform the ground investigation work which we are planning for August / September this year.
