Finding out more about the Dwyryd Estuary
From mid August to October 2017 we’ll be carrying out some ground investigation survey work in locations around the Dwyryd Estuary.
These surveys will help inform plans which could see a section of overhead line that runs across the Dwyryd Estuary, between Garth and Cilfor, removed and replaced with power cables buried underground.
WSP and Structural Soils, acting on National Grid’s behalf, will be carrying out the surveys.
We’ll be using a hovercraft to access some of the locations, all of which have been agreed with landowners, Gwynedd Council, the Harbour Master and Natural Resources Wales.
We will also be setting up a small office on land owned by Penrhyndeudraeth Town Council, opposite the railway station.
We don’t anticipate that any traffic associated with these works will cause significant disruption.
The results of these surveys will help us to develop detailed engineering designs. Before we finalise plans we’ll be carrying out public consultation within the local community to understand views.
